2022 Fall Celebration coming on September 10

The Friends of the Mercer Public Library will hold their annual Fall Celebration Open House on Saturday, September 10 at 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend this FREE event to celebrate the library. No tickets are required.

Attendees will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine, and soft drinks. The event will be set up outdoors on the library grounds, weather permitting, with some displays and activities inside the library as well.

The popular Book Basket raffles will include eight baskets this year. Raffle tickets are available at the library now, and winners will be drawn on September 16. Each basket has a theme and contains a book and other gifts related to the theme.

Back again this year is the popular “Dine Around,” where guests have an opportunity to buy a wrapped box with a “mystery” gift certificate valued from $25-$100 to area restaurants, supper clubs, and bars.

The Friends will also hold an online auction featuring a great collection of items, services, and experiences donated by local businesses and residents. The online auction will begin on September 10 and continue through September 23. Items will be on display at the open house.

The Friends of the Mercer Library raise money throughout the year to support programming, equipment, and special projects at the library. In 2022, donations to the Friends supported programs like “Dinosaur Dimensions,” storytelling, and naturalist presentations for children; summer programs for all ages; new equipment for library staff; the installation of a bike repair station for users of the Mercer Bike Trail; improvements to the library’s gardens; and much more.
